carved from Camphorwood (樟木), renowned
for its aromatic scent and fine silky texture. This
is evident in the lower panels, where the grain
imparts a smooth and refined appearance. The
frames are likely constructed from Chinese
Cedar (杉木). adding to the overall elegance.
The rectangular panels feature two large
reticulated sections adorned with key fret
designs and auspicious objects. The central
figural scene depicts a lady with an attendant,
while the lower panel showcases intricately
carved figures and foliage.
Notably, the branches of the trees in the central
carving are rendered in a three-dimensional
manner, giving the impression that they are
floating. This piece exemplifies the height of
traditional Chinese craftsmanship and artistry.
